Owner of the first ever Synergy Grill becomes the brands’ new Business Development Manager

Exciting times lay ahead at Synergy Grill Technology as ex-chef and restaurateur Richard Kennedy – the proud owner of the first ever Synergy Grill, made and sold in 2013 – steps out of his chef whites, and into Synergy’s new Business Development Manager role.
Bringing decades of experience in food sales, business, and finance industries – as well as a “second-to-none” understanding as to the real-life culinary, environmental, and financial benefits that a Synergy Grill can offer, Richard is certainly no stranger to Synergy as Justin Cadbury, CEO & Chairman, details:

“Our relationship with Richard started back in 2013 when we sold him the first ever Synergy Grill for use in his Cambridge-based pub. Since then, it’s safe to say Richard’s passion for excellence in the kitchens with these advanced grills has blossomed, with him operating the exact same Synergy Grill for just shy of 10 years with no issues – bringing improvements to food quality, efficiency, and operational costs.

As our longest standing customer, Richard’s knowledge of our grills and USP’s is second to none, hence why I have every confidence that Richard will succeed in developing and improving our brand even further.”

Richard expands further on the relationship that he’s developed with Synergy over the past decade, saying:
“All chefs have that one bit of kit that they simply can’t live without, and for me – and hundreds of chefs across the country – the Synergy Grill remains top dog!
To now be working directly for Synergy truly is a dream come true, and I look forward to pushing the Synergy message so that many more chefs can experience all the benefits, as well as the experience of personally cooking on these state-of-the-art-grills!”
Having enjoyed an abundance of difference roles over the years, Richard first broke into the professional cookery world back in 1998 when he was taken under the wings of the chefs such as Anton Adelman and Malcom Emery. From this exciting beginning, Richard went on to chef at many of the most prestigious restaurants and events.
Later in his career, Richard harnessed his love and knowledge of food service by taking the reins of a struggling pub in St Neots. Over the next 16 years, Richard made it his mission to turn this sleepy loss-making pub into an award-winning gastro pub which he claims was, in part, down to operating a Synergy Grill.

Synergy to create an energy-saving hub with the help of operators

Sustainability champions Synergy Grill Technology are urging operators to submit their current gas/electric usage and costs (per kWh) via synergygrill.com/energy-hub/

From this, the brand are hoping to create a hub of information centred around the realities of the energy-crisis, how it is impacting the hospitality industry, analysis of data, and developing key action points that can be taken to counteract these rising costs as Justin Cadbury, Chairman of Synergy Grill Technology, elaborates:

“As a company that continues to champion energy-saving, Synergy are constantly looking at ways that we can further support the industry – not just by developing energy-slashing grilling solutions – but by providing data, analysis and key expertise on how operators can overcome such challenges.

If enough operators get on board with this campaign, simply by filling out a few details about their current energy usage and spend, we are hopeful that we will be able to create an energy advice hub for the foodservice industry – one that plainly identifies exactly how rising energy costs are affecting operators, and actions for counteracting this.”

The idea to create this hub was sparked from Synergy’s recent competition which gave operators the chance to win a free Synergy Grill simply by submitting details about their current energy usage and spend. From this database alone, Synergy has already found that that the current average electric cost per per kWh  is £0.61 and gas is £0.26 per kWh – and with further submissions, Synergy hope to make this database even more accurate and informative.

To help Synergy create this hub – and help operators counteract rising energy prices – please submit your energy usage and spend here: synergygrill.com/energy-hub/

Catering equipment plea for new Prime Minister Liz Truss

Justin Cadbury, Chairman of Synergy Grill Technology, is calling on the new Prime Minister to urgently implement schemes that make the purchase of energy efficient catering equipment fairer, as in existing support for electric cars, solar panel, heat exchangers etc. hospitality operators to instantly save money as well as demonstrating environmental responsibility for the benefit of all. At a time when the focus is on energy prices and the devastating affect it will have on the hospitality industry, Justin believes that now, more than ever, government involvement is required and perfectly meets the dual target of energy savings and vital support for the hospitality industry.

“Energy efficient equipment can have a significant impact on helping to counter some of the devastating energy price increases that the hospitality industry is currently having to endure. With no business price cap on rising gas and electricity prices, operators need to look at ways they can reduce their energy usage and ultimately updating existing equipment can be a significant factor.

“Much new equipment, including the Synergy Grill that uses 59% less gas than traditional models, can already provide pay back within 12 months of purchase, but with immediate relief being required now, there must be additional schemes to incentivise the operator to switch, ideally helping to reduce the initial outlay. Within other industries energy efficient products, such as electric cars and solar panels, enjoy significant tax breaks or discounted prices, but the hospitality industry is once again being left to fight for itself. Action is needed now to give the hospitality the best chance of survival over the coming 12 months.”

Justin believes that a simple analysis of equipment that is rated by the BSI and other industry bodies as energy efficient will provide all the information that is required to produce a detailed list of equipment that warrants special treatment:

“It is important that the list of equipment provides the hospitality industry with the very best cost savings and therefore a simple analysis of third party accreditations and actual physical measurements will mean that operators can quickly see the costs and the actual savings that can be made. Help is here right now – let’s use it”.

Synergy Grill Technology is chosen for World Steak Challenge!

The Synergy Grill will once again take pride of place at the prestigious World Steak Challenge to be held in Dublin on the 27th & 28th September. Synergy has been the grill of choice since the competition began in 2015 and as the call for entries is made for the 2022 competition (World Steak Challenge 2022 – Enter) Synergy is delighted to announce that the Synergy Grill has been chosen yet again as the best grill, on which to cook the best steaks, in the world.

Lorraine Hendle, Managing Director of the World Steak Challenge explains why Synergy takes pride of place, just behind the best steaks:
“Synergy Grills has worked with us at the World Steak Challenge since it began. The rigorous preparation and judging process means we need consistency of delivery and an even distribution of heat across the entire cooking surface. Every year the team of judges, who in 2022 will gather at the world -renowned FIRE Steakhouse in Dublin, compliment us on the quality of our chosen grills and therefore we had no hesitation in selecting Synergy Grills once again this year.”

The World Steak Challenge 2022 will use four Synergy ST900 Trilogy Grills to make up the eight cooking stations, all of which will be managed by a revolving team of 14 chefs from the FIRE Steakhouse in Dublin and will be led by Culinary Director and Chair of Judges, Richie Wilson.

Leander Cadbury, International Business Director at Synergy is delighted that the Synergy Grill was selected again.
“The World Steak Challenge is the ultimate competition for steak producers and suppliers to showcase their product quality and breed credentials on the international stage. To have Synergy selected as the grill of choice by the organisers is a real honour and a testament to how it consistently brings out the best results in every cut of meat in a quick and sustainable way. We look forward to supporting the event once again.”

The Synergy Grill is unique in that is has no fat tray and carbonises the waste fat, so that it can be simply vacuumed away after service.

British Manufacturer sees significant growth after selling BBQ’s to Australia

You would think that attempting to sell BBQ’s to the Aussies would be met with the same response as selling coals to Newcastle or pine to the Scandinavians, but one British Manufacturer has done exactly that, after securing a significant order that will see their unique technology, designed and manufactured in Cambridgeshire, used by hotels and restaurants across Australia.
Thanks to its Internationally patented gas turbine technology, that cuts energy consumption by 59%, Synergy Grill Technology offers a comprehensive range of environmentally responsible quality grills which boast better food quality, in tandem with low energy usage. Pair this with Synergy’s fat atomisation process which vaporises fat molecules into carbon dust that can be vacuumed later and it is clear why Synergy Grill has grabbed the attention of chefs and the wider hospitality industry in the southern hemisphere.
Justin Cadbury, Chairman & CEO of Synergy Grill Technology explains what grabbed the Aussies attention:
“Synergy Grills have been developed to create better tasting, healthier foods with low energy usage, whilst saving operators money as well as protecting the planet.
Synergy Grills self-baste the food as it cooks, locking in the moisture and resulting in a more succulent food product, meaning that a wealth of Australian meats and fresh produce can be cooked on the grill whilst still retaining those all-important juices. From beautiful Australian Wagyu to tender grilled shrimp, the possibilities with Synergy really are endless.
Instead of a fat tray Synergy Grill technology actually vapourises the fat back into ashes (and we know how much the Aussies like to retain those) so that it can be vacuumed up later. When you also take into account the significant energy savings that the Synergy Grill provides, you can see why Australian chefs are bowled over with the advantages.”
The breakthrough into Australia has proved to be a major boost both in terms of company morale to the young workforce who see a long-term career structure opening up, and a further financial elevation which is so vital to a British technology company which needs to fund both sales growth and new product lines to create further export opportunities around the world.
So impressed have the Australian’s been with the Synergy Grill it won a prestigious Award for Product innovation at Australia’s largest trade show.
