Catering equipment plea for new Prime Minister Liz Truss

Justin Cadbury, Chairman of Synergy Grill Technology, is calling on the new Prime Minister to urgently implement schemes that make the purchase of energy efficient catering equipment fairer, as in existing support for electric cars, solar panel, heat exchangers etc. hospitality operators to instantly save money as well as demonstrating environmental responsibility for the benefit of all. At a time when the focus is on energy prices and the devastating affect it will have on the hospitality industry, Justin believes that now, more than ever, government involvement is required and perfectly meets the dual target of energy savings and vital support for the hospitality industry.

“Energy efficient equipment can have a significant impact on helping to counter some of the devastating energy price increases that the hospitality industry is currently having to endure. With no business price cap on rising gas and electricity prices, operators need to look at ways they can reduce their energy usage and ultimately updating existing equipment can be a significant factor.

“Much new equipment, including the Synergy Grill that uses 59% less gas than traditional models, can already provide pay back within 12 months of purchase, but with immediate relief being required now, there must be additional schemes to incentivise the operator to switch, ideally helping to reduce the initial outlay. Within other industries energy efficient products, such as electric cars and solar panels, enjoy significant tax breaks or discounted prices, but the hospitality industry is once again being left to fight for itself. Action is needed now to give the hospitality the best chance of survival over the coming 12 months.”

Justin believes that a simple analysis of equipment that is rated by the BSI and other industry bodies as energy efficient will provide all the information that is required to produce a detailed list of equipment that warrants special treatment:

“It is important that the list of equipment provides the hospitality industry with the very best cost savings and therefore a simple analysis of third party accreditations and actual physical measurements will mean that operators can quickly see the costs and the actual savings that can be made. Help is here right now – let’s use it”.
